| To
correctly position the leg and balance the bird
upright on the ground, imagine the spine forming
an axis through the body. The legs are attached
to the pelvis about two thirds along the length
of the body. The thigh points forward and the
shin inclines backwards from the knee, the tarsus
and foot again point forward. With the Z-shaped
leg structure superimposed onto your drawing it
is easier to identify the point of balance. If
the bird is standing then at least one leg will
be beneath its body supporting its weight,
roughly on the line of a vertical taken from the
knee. |
